Bio

Steven L. Haddad, MD attended college at the University of Michigan, graduating in 1985.  He attended The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, followed by a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Georgetown University.   He completed a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery in 1996 at the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Fellowship Director Mark S. Myerson, MD.  He is a senior attending physician with Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, LLC, in Glenview, IL.  He has received the James K. Stack Resident Teaching Award at Northwestern University in 2003.  He has also received the Roger Mann Award from the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society in 1996.  He has been named Best Lecturer for the Miller Orthopaedic Review Course (now JBJS MRC) in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2018 and 2019.

Dr. Haddad has worked extensively with both the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).  For the AOFAS, he was Chairman of the Young Physicians Section (2000-2001), Chairman of the Occupational Health Committee (2001-2003), and Chairman of the Education Committee (2007-2009).  He is an Associate Editor for Foot and Ankle International, and Edited the Workers Compensation Manual for the AOFAS.  He was Program Chair (2004-2005), a repeat Program Chair (2018-2019), and the AMA Delegate for the Young Physicians Section (1998-2003). He developed and chaired the AOFAS Complications Course in 2007 and 2015, and has participated as faculty in numerous AOFAS courses and webinars.  Dr. Haddad is a past president of the AOFAS (2013-2014).

For the AAOS, Dr. Haddad has participated on the Foot and Ankle Evaluation Sub-Committee (1999-2006), as well as the Leadership Fellows Program (2004-2005).  He sat on the Professional Liability Committee (2005-2007), Foot and Ankle Program Subcommittee (2007-2013), and the Continuing Medical Education Courses Committee (2007-2012).  He was Chairman of the AAOS Annual Meeting Subsection on Foot and Ankle (2009-2013).  He was Section Editor for OrthoInfo (2007—2017), the patient information website for the AAOS, and President of the Board of Directors of the Orthopaedic Learning Center.  He is also currently the Foot and Ankle Content Chair on the AAOS Council on Education.  He has chaired the AAOS Advanced Techniques in Foot and Ankle Surgery Course, the Total Ankle Arthroplasty Course (four times), and the International Foot and Ankle Course.

Dr. Haddad is married to Amy, and has 3 children.  When away from his practice, he enjoys cycling, golf, and playing paddle tennis.  He is an amateur American historian, and enjoys playing blues, jazz, and rock guitar, which he has been doing since age 10.  He is patiently awaiting his big break in music…for the past 49 years.
